1. TIME: Setup 7:00 am; classes start at 8:30 am; estimated finish time is 5-5:30 pm (sorry, no Friday setup)

2. LOCATION: Benton County Fairgrounds, large auditorium, 110 SW 53rd St, Corvallis OR 97333; ample parking; handicapped access; 6000 sq. ft. hall with 1500 sq. ft. adjoining room.

DIRECTIONS TO FAIRGROUNDS: 

From I-5, take Exit 228 west about 9 miles to Corvallis (this is Hwy 34 and becomes Harrison St. in Corvallis). Continue through Corvallis, past University dairy barns. At traffic light, turn left onto 53rd St. Fairgrounds is just past the mobile home park on your right.

 From Hwy 99W, turn west on Harrison St in Corvallis, continue through Corvallis, past University dairy barns. At traffic light, turn left onto 53rd St. Fairgrounds is just past the mobile home park on your right.

3. NAMHSATM MEMBER SHOW: 1st & 2nd place models in Open divisions will receive cards & qualify to compete at North American Nationals (NANTM) 2021/2022/2023/2024. Entries in all NAN qualifying classes must be equine (see Division B rules, under Rule 5 for exception). 


4. ELIGIBILITY:
Entrants & Models: This show is open to anyone to enter (no membership required) and to all sizes, brands, types (plastic, china, resin, etc.) of models, figurines or statues. Judges: Judges shall not compete in or proxy in division(s) they are judging. A judge may not judge any model that he/she has customized/worked/collaborated on. A judge may not judge any model which he/she owns or has owned within the last six months. A judge may not judge any models owned by any individual who co-owns one or more models with that judge. Show management shall not compete.


5. DIVISIONS:

DIVISION A - OF CHINA/RESIN DIVISION: any brand of original finish china or resin; all sizes; NO custom glaze pieces (they go in Div. H)


DIVISION B - COLLECTIBILITY/MISCELLANEOUS:
(no Grand/Reserve in this division)

SCENE CLASS: 1 entry per person; must include at least one equine; Kid's Division entrants may enter at no additional charge.

COLLECTIONS: 1 entry per person; 8 models of same make. Conga Line for 8 models of same mold (variations of same mold are allowed, such as long tail & short tail). Same collection may not enter both collection classes. Exactly 8 models, regardless if sold as set. 30" of table space allowed per collection; models should be labeled with collectibility information; risers/cloth cover recommended; judging criteria include condition, age, rarity, value, presentation.  Kid's Division entrants may enter at no additional charge. Label  entry with your R1 number or tag code on a card, such as a 3"x5" index card folded in half. Models look best without leg tags.

FANTASY: 2 per class. NAN Qualifying. Must be at least 50% equine. Any size. For rules, see Section IV at:

https://namhsa.org/content/uploads/forms/NAMHSAPolicies.pdf. OF is judged on collectability; CM/AR is judged on workmanship.

COLLECTIBILITY Classes 4-26: Any Size. 2 entries per person per class. Must be equine;  must include documentation that either came with the model or you have prepared. Include model name, year(s) produced, number produced, note of special variation, etc.)

Realistic Color = colors seen on live equine; Non-Realistic Color = fantasy colors, woodgrain, or anything not seen on live equine

"Original 4" Colors = Wedgewood, Copenhage, Florentine, Gold Charm (old or contemporary release)

Other Decorator Colors = Ageless Bronze, Silver Filigree, pearl, etc.

RR = Regular Run, SR = Special Run, OOAK = One of a Kind; DAH = Design a Horse; Conn = Connoisseur

DIVISION C - ARTIST RESIN BREED HALTER DIVISION: For artist resins & original sculptures; all sizes

DIVISION D -  OF PERFORMANCE: for any size or type of original finish models, including plastic, china and resin

DIVISION E - KID'S DIVISION: (not NAN Qualifying classes)
For youth 14 years or younger as of Jan. 1, 2020. Must be present and show own models. No proxying. May show OF models or models customized by the entrant only. May show any scale of model (Traditional, Classic, Little Bits, Stablemates, Mini Whinnies or similar scales). Kids may not cross enter to any other divisions; except they may enter Scene and Collections in Division B. The same models may NOT be shown in Open by another entrant. Tack used in Kid's performance may NOT be used in Open by another entrant. Youth must set up their own entries in halter and performance; an adult may give verbal advice, but shall not touch the model/tack. If you're unsure of breeds or which class to enter, please ask show holder, judge, or helpers listed on flyer you'll get at show. You may email showholder before the show with your questions.

 

DIVISION F - OF STONE HALTER: original finish large Peter Stone models; no minis (Pebbles or Chips)


DIVISION G - OF BREYER/OTHER PLASTIC HALTER:
Original finish Classic or Traditional scale Breyer, Copperfox,Hartland or other plastic. NO Stone models. NO minis

 

DIVISION H - CUSTOMIZED BREED HALTER DIVISION: Touched-up, repainted, etched, remade, haired or any combination of these. All sizes. Custom glaze pieces shall show in CM Glaze classes 1-4 only.

 

DIVISION I - CM/AR PERFORMANCE DIVISION: for any size or type of customized, artist resin or original sculptures

 

DIVISION J - OF PLASTIC MINI BREED HALTER DIVISION:

For original finish plastic models under approximately 4” at ear tips or of that scale. Includes Breyer LittleBits, Stablemates, & Mini Whinnies; Micro Minis; Hartland Tiny Mites; Schleich, Stone Chips & Pebbles; etc. Plastic Minis must only enter Mini Division; no cross entry to Stone or Breyer Divisions. May enter Div B Collectibility. Mini OF china/resins shall compete in OF China/Resin Division. Any OF Mini (plastic or C/R) may compete in OF Performance.

 

* ORIGINAL FINISH NOTE: Applies to all OF classes --

For factory finish models. No alterations are allowed, such as adding/removing socks, blazes, eye whites, etc. Sealants, baby oil or similar product shall not be applied to OF models. Unnoticeable minor touchups to restore model to original color/condition are allowed.

 

6. GENERAL:

Classes may be split at judge’s and/or show management’s discretion. 


"Other Perf" is any event not listed (if showmanship, must use doll). Costumes & saddles must have a girth

Each CM or AR model may enter 1 Breed halter class only

Each OF model may enter 1 Breed halter class and 1 Collectibility class only (if paid entrant in both Divisions) (see Rule 10 for class limits)

Only equines may enter NANTM Qualifying classes (Pegasi, Unicorns and others that are at least 50% equine are allowed in Fantasy, see Section IV of

If you have a tippy model, lay it on its side for the class. This gives the judge permission to pick it up and examine it.

 

7. FOALS/YEARLINGS: may enter foal/yearling classes only (and  a Collectibility class if Open OF and paid entrant in those divisions)  (see Rule 10 for class limits)

 

8. BASIC JUDGING CRITERIA (not necessarily in order of importance):

OF Breed Halter: condition, conformation, breed type, color, cleanliness, overall appearance

CM/AR Halter: conformation, breed type, color, condition, cleanliness, workmanship

OF Collectibility: rarity, age, condition, desirability, value (Documentation required)

Performance: suitability to event or task portrayed; appropriateness, fit, adjustment, detail of tack/props/doll; placement of model in relation to props; accuracy of documentation

 

9. HALTERS: are not required or recommended in breed or collectibility

 

10. ENTRY LIMIT: no overall limit to number you may bring (remember to pack them when they're done showing)

11. CLASS ORDER: 5 divisions will be judged simultaneously on separate tables following the order printed on class list.

 

12. TIME LIMITS: 3 minutes maximum preceding halter classes; 7 minutes maximum preceding performance classes. If necessary, timers will be used to enforce time limits. Two sets of tables will be used in each division to facilitate set up.

 

13. LEG TAGS:

You must provide & fill out your own tags; String tags should be at least 1”

Each entrant will be assigned an exhibitor identification code; you must provide an e-mail address or SASE to get your code

OR entrants may use their Region 1 Tag Saver number  (to get R1#: http://region1tagnumbers.webs.com/region1tagprogram.html)

Make list of your models; number them sequentially (must be in ascending order; OK to skip numbers). List only the models you're showing at NW Expo (or provide just a list of your models that won a 1st or 2nd).

Mark your tags with your code, model number, model’s breed

Example:   Code = K,  Model # = 12,  Breed = Morgan

 

            K-12                            R1-140-12       (writing R1 is optional at this show)

Please print on tags neatly in blue or black ink or computer printed labels attached to string tags

You must provide show holder with list of models on show day; failure to provide list will result in your models being listed only by tag code in the results.

If you make changes or additions, you may retrieve your list from the drop box & update it

 

14. PROXY SHOWING: If a model owner is not in attendance at the show, the owner may designate another person, who is attending & showing, to "Proxy Show" the model(s). Owner must mail in a completed, signed entry form & proper entry fee for their proxy shown model(s). The designee shows the models on the owner's behalf. No extra table space is provided. No door prize or program.

Show management reserves the right to replace a judge in the event the judge has an emergency and cannot attend. Every effort will be made to notify entrants of substitute judges if there is time before the show date. DECISIONS OF THE JUDGES ARE FINAL.

 

16. CHAMPIONSHIPS: will be determined from judge-offs (call backs) of 1st & 2nd place winners. Champions and reserves will compete for Grand/Reserve Grand of their division as indicated on class list.

 

17. AWARDS:

Commercial flat ribbons 1st-6th in Open classes; 1st-10th in Kid's classes, Collections & Scene

Rosette to Champions &  Reserve Champions

Rosette and award to Grands; rosette to Reserve Grands

ALES Pursuit of Excellence award to any champion or reserve long ear competing against horses/ponies, donated by Laura Pervier, Under Kitty Supervision

Lakeshore-donated flats to Lakeshore class in OF China/Resin Division

 

18. RESULTS: Results with 1st, 2nd, champs & reserves provided to all entrants after show (distributed by e-mail or US mail; posted on YahooGroups file and show web site); Please track your own placings 3rd and beyond.

 

19. COURTESY: Please: look, but do not touch anything without owner's permission; stay clear of show tables while judging is in progress; no dogs, please; pack in a timely fashion throughout the day as models are done showing; clean your area before leaving. Help putting away tables & chairs after show is greatly appreciated!

 
20. AUCTION: Items may be started online and will be finished at the show.

21. RAFFLE/DOOR PRIZES: Donations are welcome!

Donors of door prizes get a free black/white classified or horizontal business card-size ad, if desired

Donors of raffle items get a free black/white full-page ad, if desired

Each donor’s name goes into special donors’ drawing.

Raffle tickets are 50 cents each, 5 for $2, 15 for $5

All entrants' names will go into free door prize drawings

 

22. SPONSORSHIPS:  For each $1 of sponsorship, your name goes into a special sponsors’ drawing; sponsorship details on entry form 

23. ADS: available in program only; black/white copying (no ads in results); see entry form for sizes and pricing 

24. SELLING/TRADING: You may display models, tack, etc. for sale or trade on your table. Limited number of vendor tables available for $35 each. Please check with Traci on availability before sending money.

25. TABLES: tables will be assigned; each entrant gets an 8' table & 1 or 2 chairs (late entrants may have to share tables and/or have table in adjacent room); please bring your own table cloth; no 2nd tables available; entrants may not bring in extra tables. 
KIDS DIVISION TABLES will likely be in room adjoining main show hall; these tables will be very close to the Kids Division show rings; if you have family members showing open, you'll be seated together in the main room

26. ENTERING/DEADLINES: Entries will close if show sells out, as it has in recent years. Use linked entry form. Fees and deadlines are listed on it. TABLES WILL NOT BE RESERVED UNTIL FORM & FEES ARE RECEIVED.

27. ADDING/CHANGING MODELS: Simply retrieve & update the list you put in the box on the head table. 

28. REFUNDS: No refunds issued with less than 2 weeks notice.

29. LUNCH:
We will break around noon for approximately 30 minutes regardless of where we are on class list. Sack lunches may be pre-ordered. (see lunch order form for price and details). Burger King, Subway, and Safeway are within a 5-minute drive at intersection of 53rd St. & Hwy 20/34; or bring your lunch and eat & visit in the show hall.

This is a fast-paced show. Please pay attention to the class calls & the table signs. 5 classes will be judged simultaneously. It’s your responsibility to keep track of the schedule and to help keep the show moving smoothly and efficiently so we can finish at a reasonable time.
