Are you sure you want to read this drivel? OK, here goes
ABOUT ME:

My name is Tyrone Settlemier. I'm about 32 years old and live in Albany, Oregon. I've been collecting records since I can remember. The first thing I crawled to was my parents stereo system. At age 2, I didn't take a blankie or teddy bear to bed with me, but a stack of 45rpm records. I was given a stack of 78rpm records at age 6, and began seriously collecting them at 10. Currently my collection can be broken down into the following categories:

Cylinders
Odd label 78's pre 1935ish
Odd label 78's post 1935ish
78's that have great music on them
45rpm, with emphasis on instrumental pop items
Classical LP's, with emphasis on baroque chamber music
Non-classical LP's, with emphasis on swing jazz, instrumental dance orchestras
Odd formats, you know, 3" records, 5", 8", 8.5", 11", red vinyl, blue vinyl, green vinyl, thin records, thick records, square records, picture records, 10" 45's, etc, etc, etc
Just plain ol' records!

WHY I DO THIS

I'm a glutton for punishment I guess. What started out as a half-hour episode of "I wonder what would happen if" has turned into a project that seems to eat up what little spare time I have. I guess I've always enjoyed sharing my records, and this is a way to reach a broader audience. It nicely combines two of my interest, records and computers. I'm here to help you where I can, so don't hesitate to drop me a line.

OK, TYRONE, HOW DO I REACH YOU?

You can reach me at the following e-mail addresses:
settlet@proaxis.com, my home address, used for anything and everything. Send questions (and answers) about records in general here.
settlemt@netscape.net, used for record purchases, my eBay address.  Also used for messages relating to the Online Discographical Project.
settlet@hotmail.com, use this for correspondence about my page proper
(note, my usa.net address is history, please update your address books)

TIPS on writing emails to me:

DON'T use generic subject lines such as "hi" or 'how are you".  Because I publish my email addresses on my web pages, I get a LOT of spam, and I will probably delete your email without reading it.  You don't have to use too much detail.  A subject such as "Decca"  "discography" will suffice.  Of course, "Black Swan records I want to give you" will probably catch my attention too!

DON'T send attachments without warning me ahead of time.  For the same reasons as above, I also get a lot of viruses sent to me.  Again, I will probably just delete the message without looking at it.  It's an unfortunate reality, because some geeks without ethics have way too much time on their hands.

DO understand that I am not selling anything from my discographical pages, and that I only own a very few of the records listed.  The pages are for research purposes only.

DO understand that I get a couple hundred email messages a day, mostly from discussion groups (it's a GREAT way to learn) and so it may take a little while to write back.  I will do my best to do so in a timely manner.  If you've got a question you need answered immediately, write "expedite" in the subject.  Please be judicious, and understand that I occasionally take vacations, etc.

DISCLAIMERS, CAVEATS, ETC.
  1. Even though I've been collecting seriously for 20 years, I'm a relative newcomer. I'm happy to answer questions, and have friends who can probably answer your questions.
  2. I'm on a pretty limited budget, so you won't get rich by selling your records to me. However, I'll give a free appraisal (given enough detail), and will help you find a buyer. Depending on the circumstances, I will consign them, but I'm NOT a regular dealer.
  3. These pages have many errors, more than likely. Don't take my word as gospel. If you want me to double-check my sources, I'll be happy to do so. If have a correction, by all means let me know!
