Then after the building and dome are built, a steel pier was bolted onto the
column. The steel pier has a south offset designed into the top so that
the center of rotation of my fork mounted telescope will be in the center of
curvature of the dome. This is so that I will have a consistent amount of
space around the optics for attachments. I did not wish to offset the
whole pier and column since I may change to a German Equatorial at some stage.
