    Kiss The Cook

Christopher J. Priest has written an amazing essay -- one of many -- that expresses the truth of what happens in so many churches and with musicians around the world.

Playing Drums in church presents its own unique set of challenges for the modern drummer or any kind of musician. The Modern Church organization is one of the most surprising environments to work in musically. If you're up to the challenge, you'll have the opportunity to play every style of music you can imagine, with musicians from every strata of society, and from around the world.

Christopher's column "KISS THE COOK -- HOW TO MAKE PEACE WITH YOUR CHURCH MUSICIANS" expresses the truth of what many musicians face from week to week as they play in thousands of churches. Some churches are very professional organizations and are very understanding of the musician's viewpoint, while others are extremely difficult, challenging venues for the musician in knowing just how to cope with the situations they face. Christopher has done a great service with his column in saying some of the things that many church musicians think but may or may not feel comfortable expressing from within their own musical settings.  KISS THE COOK by Christopher J. Priest is worth taking the time to read.
