Take Note
: Don't
miss the Funky Drummer. Long time family friend and the guy who wrote the book on The Commandments of R and B Drumming -- Zoro was in town a some time ago. He gave his usually excellent clinic of inspiration and a capsule history of Rhythm and Blues. Zoro was in rare form that night, given the presence of some of his near kin. He took some extra time to share some personal stories of the origins of his musical influences and the beginnings of his work behind the drums. I remember the day when Zoro sat down behind my blue sparkle Pearl drum kit. "I could hear those drums calling my name . . ." he said. From humble beginnings great things can come. I still have the super 8mm film of the event from all those years ago. It's a long story and the Z-man tells it best. If you get the chance to attend one of Zoro's clinics, don't miss it. He just keeps getting better and better.
