Jeff Patterson's Music History

"In the beginning, there was nothin' but rock, then someone invented the wheel, and things began to Rock and Roll . . ."

-- John Felten, the Book of Diamonds

What follows is a brief history of most of the musicians and artists I've had the pleasure to work with over the past 30 years of musical adventures. If you didn't make the list I apologize. I'm attempting to update and expand the list as I dig thru the archives.

With the Hurrman Burrman Band - 1981

The Diamonds

The Diamonds: I worked and toured all over the West Coast and South East Asia with this group. The leader of the Diamonds, John Felten was killed in an airplane crash in Northern California just after we had played in Reno, Nevada. We picked up the pieces and continued for some time until Nat Goodman, the Original producer of the Diamonds hit records died of a blood disease. After that, legal disputes arose over rights to use the Diamonds name and it was tied up in the courts for years. • The Copple Brothers Band: They were the back up band for Suzanne Lee Price, Dale Rollins, and many others. Great guitar players and great harmony singers. Traveling with this band was a blast.

  • Highland Troubadours: I engineered a couple of albums by this group of exuberant third graders.

  • Assembly of God Orchestra & Choir: I worked for several years with this church group, mostly playing drums, but also doing sound and sometimes substitute conducting. We did lots of special Easter and Christmas events as well as special evangelistic outreaches all year long.

  • Dale Rollins -- Northwest Passages: Backed by the Copple Brothers Band, we did just one concert to promote Dale Rollin's Northwest Passages album. Dale had been a regional ASCAP representative based out of Denver, Colorado before we met.

  • The Rivingtons: We shared the bill and the stage in a Rock and Roll Revival Show at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas. This was a real thrill for me. Their record "The Bird" also known as "Papa Ooh Mow Mow," was one of the first records I ever owned and listened to. In fact, I think I played this record until the grooves were worn out.

  • Wolfman Jack: He was the MC at a couple of shows at the Del Mar County Fair in California. I can remember him standing off stage watching as we took the stage.

  • Bo Diddley: We were one of several acts to perform with the veteran blues showman at the Del Mar County Fair.

  • The Mechanix: I engineered a demo recording for this group with old friends Lyle Annis and Bob Duke.

  • Steve & Steve: A couple of very gifted singer, songwriters. Together we produced a nice collection of original songs.

  • Marty Davis Show: Another country singer, very popular amongst country music fans all over the west coast.
