| Rylan
Wins BIG at NAGA's Hawaiian State Grappling Championship IV, 2003 |
| Ryland Lizares, the Oregon
Pound's head Jiu Jitsu instructor walked away with two first place
belts from the North American Grappling Association's (NAGA)
Hawaiian State Grappling Championship IV on Oahu, Hawaii on
Saturday, September 13th, 2003.
Rylan won first place in the NO-GI Advanced Heavyweight division
and the GI Purple + Middleweight division. He stated, "It
was a tough tournament and I had

| some good matches."
Rylan received his purple belt from Pedro Sauer in February of
2003 and has been heading the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program at the
Oregon Pound since the summer of 2003. Rylan has revitalized
the Oregon Pound's Jiu Jitsu program and has proven that he
not only possesses great technical skill but also the ability to
impart that skill to others. We're, indeed, fortunate to have
Rylan at the Oregon Pound. |

Sauer's Second "Oregon Pound" Seminar An Unqualified
Success! |
| A big thanks to Pedro Sauer for
traveling all the way to The Oregon Pound to provide our
latest seminar. This was Pedro's second seminar at The
Oregon Pound and to no one's surprise, it was a huge
success. The gym was packed and Pedro provided an
excellent combination of technique and critique. As a
result, a lot of people are going to be a lot smoother on the
mat!
After the seminar, Glen hosted an evening of free |

who could attend were able to schmooze with Pedro and increase
their serum cholesterol level at the same time. What a
deal!
Finally, a huge thanks to Glen Sweeney (and
his wife) for coordinating this seminar and hosting the
evening with Pedro. Few can appreciate the level of
commitment and hard work necessary to coordinate this kind of
event. On behalf of all the participants, thank you. |
