Sauer's Second "Oregon Pound" Seminar An Unqualified
Success! |
| A big thanks to Pedro Sauer for
traveling all the way to The Oregon Pound to provide our
latest seminar. This was Pedro's second seminar at The
Oregon Pound and to no one's surprise, it was a huge
success. The gym was packed and Pedro provided an
excellent combination of technique and critique. As a
result, a lot of people are going to be a lot trickier on the
mat!
After the seminar, Glen hosted an evening of free pizza and
conversation with Pedro. Those who could attend |

their serum cholesterol level at the same time. What a
deal!
Finally, a huge thanks to Glen Sweeney (and
his wife) for coordinating this seminar and hosting the
evening with Pedro. Few can appreciate the level of
commitment and hard work necessary to coordinate this kind of
event. On behalf of all the participants, thank you. |
J.D. Stanley Wins at
"Fighting Against Cancer"
|
J.D. Stanley KO'd his much heavier opponent in the 2nd round
of the "Fighting Against Cancer" mixed martial arts
competition held in Portland, Oregon in February. This
was J.D.'s first mixed martial arts (MMA) cage competition so
he's off to an auspicious start. Keep up the good work,
J.D.
J.D. Stanley Wins at

|
| Congratulations to Rylan Lizares and J.D.
Stanley for placing first in the Megaton Dias Jiu Jitsu
tournament on November 9, 2002, in Eugene, Oregon.

division with gi and later went on to compete in the no-gi
division where he managed to defeated a purple belt
competitor.
J.D. placed 1st in the heavy weight white belt division
with gi. This was his first tournament so you can be
sure we haven't heard the last of J.D.
Honorable mentions go to all those who competed in the
tournament, many of whom would have taken home 2nd and 3rd
place medals had the tournament organizers provided them.
Thanks go to all those who represented The Oregon Pound and
Pedro Sauers at the tournament. In alphabetical order:

Bob Hirte (blue belt) |
