| Liner notes! This is where I get to display my ignorance on a
given subject. A few interesting tidbits:
Sascha Jacobsen was a violinist originally from Russia. He played a Stradivarius most of his career. He eventually became concertmaster of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. In 1915 he shared the Loeb Memorial Prize with Elias Breeskin, who re-formed the Pittsburg Symphony in 1926, and was it's pricipal conductor from 1929-1930. Kathleen Parlow was born in 1890, and eventually settled in Toronto, Canada. Eddy Brown later became musical director for Mutual Broadcasting's flagship station WOR. Leopold Lichtenberg transcribed several pieces for violin still in publication today. Born in the 1860s, he would have been nearly 60 years old when this recording was made. I have employed no noise reduction, so there will be significant noise not found in more "commercial" releases. I will leave it to the listener to "turn the treble down", run through filters, spend $80,000 on CEDAR etc, if so inclined. Tracks:
